يحتاج دارس التراث إلى متابعة الممارسات الذهنية للإسلامويين وطرائق تفكيرهم، لأنها ستساعده في فهم الطريقة التي تأسست بها سلطة الخطاب المهيمن في التراث. كما أنه سيدرك أن ما يغلب على خطاب الإسلامويين من التفكير بالتمثيل والصورة بالأساس، إنما يرتبط بالطبيعة السلطوية لهذا الخطاب. ويقوم هذا الضرب من التفكير على استدعاء أحد مراكز السيادة العليا في الإسلام (كالنبي مثلاً) ليكون طرفاً في تمثيل يكون طرفه الآخر هو الشخص الذي يُراد بناء سلطته (الرئيس مرسي أو غيره مثلاً). وإذ يفعل الخطاب ذلك فإنه يجعل السلطة الرمزية لمركز السيادة الأعلى تعمل على حراسة السلطة المهددة للطرف الآخر. وبالطبع فإن هذا الضرب من التفكير بالتمثيل والصورة يرتبط بطفولة الإنسانية وقصورها العقلي؛ حيث يحيل العقل إلى إنسانية لم تعد تقبل بتماثلات الخارج (الأشباه والنظائر)، وتلح على إدراك ما يرقد تحت السطح الظاهر؛ حيث لا تمثيل، بل تفكيك ↗
