إذا كان تفكيك التجربة التاريخية للإسلام يتكشَّف عن أن السياسي لم يستقل بمجال اشتغال خاص عن الديني؛ وإلى حد ما لاحظ ابن خلدون من "أن العرب لا يحصل لهم الملك إلا بصبغة دينية من نبوة أو ولاية، أو أثر عظيم من الدين على الجملة"، وبما يعنيه ذلك من أن المُلك السياسي للعرب قد راح ينبني داخل الديني ويتجذَّر في قلبه منذ لحظة التأسيس المبكرة الأولى؛ فإن أهم ما يترتب على ذلك هو ما يبدو من تصور المرء أنه يسلك بحسب ضرورات "الديني" وفروضه، فيما هو يسلك حقاً تبعاً لقواعد "السياسي" المتقنِّع بالديني والمتخفِّي في قلبه. وهنا تكمن المعضلة التى تتعصى على الانفراج في عالم الإسلام؛ وأعني معضلة التمييز بين الديني والسياسي، والتي تتأتى ابتداء من عدم اختصاص الواحد منهما بمجال خاص يشتغل داخل حدوده، وذلك على العكس من اختصاص كل منهما بمجال يخصه في عالم المسيحية؛ الأمر الذي جعل، لا مجرد التمييز، بل الفصل بينهما ممكناً ↗
