My dad was a musician and I traveled around with him, so it was something that I knew. ↗

My singing is my hobby. It's me and my brother. We just enjoy writing music. ↗

I like all music. Well, I don't like music that was created to make money. I don't really like bands that don't write their own music. ↗

Music moves me - duh - and that is like having a window opening on a heightened reality, but the effect is fleeting: When the music ends, the magic, the uplifting, vanishes and the window slams shut. Words, on the other hand, by the nature of how they work, emotions evoked by dint of carefully laid out thoughts, have a more lingering effect. ↗

I always dream about other musicians. And they're never interested in hanging out with us. It's like being at school and the bigger boys don't want to play with you! ↗

For me, the work begins with a rough cut of the film. I can't do much with the script. I've tried to write music to a script prior to seeing the film, but I've found it turns out to be a waste of time. ↗

I actually don't see that strong of a connection between my background as a rock 'n roller and my early films. In a way I think your musical identity in film work is determined by the jobs that come your way. ↗

I don't want to be typecast as the 'ambient guy' or someone who only does electronic scores. I think most of the work that comes my way is because people feel they know me musically. ↗
