In the conflict between Western capitalism and radical Islam, a paucity of belief squares up to an excess of it. The West finds itself faced with a full-blooded metaphysical onslaught at just the historical point that it has, so to speak, philosophically disarmed. As far as belief goes, postmodernism prefers to travel light: it has beliefs, to be sure, but it does not have faith. ↗

لا يكاد العرب ــ وربما المسلمون ــ يتوقفون، علي مدي القرون، عن اختراع حوامل يعلقون عليها انقسام عالمهم وتشظيه؛ وبما يعنيه ذلك من أن الأصل في العالم هو الانقسام والتباعد. وهذا النوع من الانقسام هو أحد نتاجات رؤية للعالم استقرت وغلبت داخل التراث الإسلامي؛ وذلك مع ملاحظة أن تلك الرؤية للعالم تعد من رواسب ومخلفات عالم القبيلة الذي جاء الإسلام، في سعيه إلي بناء عالم جديد، لكي ينفيه ويرفعه، لكنه استمر حياً وفاعلاً في وعي العربي حتي الآن، علي الرغم من غياب القاعدة المادية الحاملة له في الواقع. إن ذلك يعني أن (القبلية) تستمر فاعلة في الوعي الراهن؛ ولو كرؤية محفزة للانقسام والتفكك، وذلك علي الرغم من غياب الحامل الواقعي لتلك الرؤية ( الذي هو القبيلة) ↗

The goal of a world run by an oligarchy in possession of Teutonic genes, who may kill or enslave other 'races' according to need, is not more unrealizable than the idea that a single state, let alone the globe itself, could be governed according to the dictates of an allegedly holy book. This mad scheme begins by denying itself the talents (and the rights) of half the population, views with superstitious horror the charging of interest, and invokes the right of Muslims to subject nonbelievers to special taxes and confiscations. Not even Afghanistan or Somalia, scenes of the furthest advances yet made by pro-caliphate forces, could be governed for long in this way without setting new standards for beggary and decline. ↗
