Bill Janklow

The White House Counsel passed on its recommendation to the Senate Judiciary Committee (which would vote on the nomination) saying its investigation of the rape case concluded there was insufficient evidence. In each case the courts upheld the freedom of speech principle for the authors and publiBill Janklowrs under the First Amendment. He was elected to statewide office six times.

Janklow was then elected to the United States House of Representatives where he served for a little more than a year. William John "Bill" Janklow (September 13 1939 – January 12 2012) was an American politician and member of the Republican Party who holds the record for the longest tenure as Governor of South Dakota - sixteen years in office.
