On 17 March 1947 Miranda married American movie producer David Alfred Sebastian. She later signed a contract with Universal but at the time Universal was undergoing a merger with another studio.

On 4 August 1955 Miranda unknowingly suffered a mild heart attack while performing during the taping of an episode of The Jimmy Durante Show. Miranda made a total of fourteen Hollywood films between 1940 and 1953. Nicknamed "The Brazilian BombCarmen Mirandall" Miranda is noted for her signature fruit hat outfit Carmen Miranda wore in the 1943 movie The Gang's All Here.
