As founder and co-chair of the upper Mississippi River Congressional task force, I have long sought to preserve the river's health and historical multiple uses, including as a natural waterway and a home to wildlife, for the benefit of future generations of Americans.

Kind is the Democratic Chief Deputy Whip and co-founder of both the Upper Mississippi River Congressional Caucus and the Congressional Wildlife Refuge Caucus and co-vice-chair of the New Democrat Coalition. Early life education and career
Kind was born and raised in La Crosse. There was also a push to draft Kind to run for governor in 2012 against Scott Walker.
