Revolution of 1688
Soon after this event William Prince of Orange started on his expedition to England. In 1669 he was in the Venetian service at Crete and in 1672 he was back with his old regiment Dumbartons in the French army taking part under Turenne in the invasion of Holland. Hugh Mackay (c.
1640 – 3 August 1692) was a Scottish general best known for his service in the Revolution of 1688.
