I never felt I was quite the ticket academically. I always felt I had to put in an enormous amount of effort not to be disappointing. So I worked really hard, but at the time it suited me, because I didn't do very much else.

In 1998 Emily Mortimer appeared as Kat Ashley in Elizabeth and played Miss Flynn in the TV mini-series Cider with Rosie which was adapted for television by her father. Their second child May Rose was born on 15 January 2010. In 2004 Mortimer appeared in the film Dear Frankie.
