In June 2009 Christie was called before the House Judiciary Committee as part of its consideration of new regulations on deferred prosecution agreements. Lakhani was unable to obtain anything until an undercover agent contacted him and supplied him with a fake missile. Christie also faced criticism over the terms of a $311-million fraud settlement with Bristol-Myers Squibb.
In 1987 Christie worked as a lawyer in private practice before he was elected as a Freeholder of Morris County New Jersey where he served from 1995 to 1998. In 1998 Christie registered as a lobbyist working for the legal representation firm Dughi Hewit & Palatucci. Born in Newark New Jersey Christie is the graduate of the University of Delaware and Seton Hall University School of Law.
