I can't play anywhere near like I used to, and I was a hot drummer. It doesn't bother me, because frankly, if you get to that point where you can't hold a drumstick properly, there are many other things in life which are far more important, like cutting a loaf of bread or a piece of cheese.

1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart – the longest time ever up to that point. With Collins as drummer the band performed jazz renditions of various Collins and Genesis hits. Collins also promoted Going Back with his first and only appearance on the BBC's foremost music series Later.

His solo career heavily influenced by his personal life brought both himself and Genesis commercial success. He was inducted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999 into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010. Following Gabriel's departure in 1975 Collins became the group's lead singer.
