He later joked[citation needed] that he had booked an early flight home for halfway through the race as he predicted the car's new electronic gearbox would last only a few laps. The drivers found they got along well and from early in the pre-season formed a good working and personal relationship. He lives in Saint Brélade on the island of Jersey. Mansell raced in the GP Masters series and signed a one-off race deal for the Scuderia Ecosse GT race team to drive their number 63 Ferrari F430 GT2 car at Silverstone on 6 May 2007.
