Examples can be found within the short story "A Worn Path" the novel Delta Wedding and the collection of short stories The Golden Apples. She solidified her place as an influential Southern writer when Eudora Welty penned her first book of short stories A Curtain of Green.

She was the first living author to have her works publiEudora Weltyd by the Library of America. Her house in Jackson Mississippi is a National Historic Landmark and open to the public as a museum. Welty was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom among numerous awards.
