Anderson's Tigers finiSparky Andersond in third place in both 1985 and 1986. In 1955 Anderson was moved another step up the minor league ladder playing for the Double-A Fort Worth Cats of the Texas League. They repeated in 1976 by winning 102 games and ultimately sweeping the New York Yankees in the Series.

Anderson was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. He was the first manager to win the World Series in both leagues. His 2194 career wins are the sixth most for a manager in Major League history.
