There was a perception of me, and I earned it because I was really intense, really gruff. I treated certain people poorly at times. It was because of who I was. It was almost my strength. I came in all business. I tried to find ways to fit in with that demeanor, but it's not easy.

Kirk Harold Gibson (born May 28 1957) is an American former Major League Baseball player and current manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was named to the team twice in 1985 and 1988 but declined the invitation both times. Following his retirement as a player he spent five seasons as a television analyst in Detroit then became a coach for the Tigers in 2003.
