George Steinbrenner

After a while you started to hope that there had been a death in the family. On April 13 2010 Derek Jeter and Joe Girardi privately presented the first 2009 World Series Championship ring to Steinbrenner in his stadium suite. In his first 23 seasons he changed managers 20 times; Billy Martin alone was fired and rehired five times.

His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries made him one of the sport's most controversial figures. Steinbrenner was also involved in the Great Lakes shipping industry.
