Together with Friedrich Dürrenmatt Max Frisch is considered one of the most influential Swiss writers of the 20th century. In 1947 he met Bertolt Brecht in Zurich. During the 1950s and 1960s Frisch wrote several novels that explored problems of alienation and identity in modern societies.

Max Rudolf Frisch (May 15 1911 – April 4 1991) was a Swiss playwright and novelist regarded as highly representative of German-language literature after World War II. He was awarded the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1986. In his creative works Frisch paid particular attention to issues relating to problems of human identity individuality responsibility morality and political commitment.
