At the Australian Open Wozniacki defeated Gisela Dulko and 21st seed Alona Bondarenko on her way to the round of 16 where Caroline Wozniacki lost to the eventual finalist and fourth-seeded Ana Ivanović. She reached the final but lost to Angelique Kerber her first loss at the tournament since the start in 2010. At the Tier III AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships Caroline Wozniacki was the top seed for the first time on the WTA Tour and Caroline Wozniacki won her third career title defeating Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in the final.
