Carr lives in North London with his girlfriend Karoline Copping a commissioning editor for Five whom he has been with since 2001. In a 2009 interview with The Times he said: "He (Carr) makes jokes like little clocks. On 22 January 2009 he covered Zane Lowe's evening show on BBC Radio 1 between 19:00 and 21:00.

He is also a writer actor and presenter of radio and television. Carr moved to a career in comedy in 2000 and has become a successful comedian.
